Our Programs/What We Do
Driven by passion and love, we strive to bring transformation.

Our Community Development Initiatives
Mercy Foundation was founded on the grounds of establishing a self-sustaining Africa. We aim to eradicate poverty, improve the health industry, and improve the education level in Africa. We involve the local leadership and the community to understand their needs and help come up with long-lasting solutions. To achieve that, we have come up with initiatives that will economically empower the people, thus achieving a long-lasting solution to all.
Economic Empowerment programs
Mercy Foundation is striving to empower the poor and vulnerable in pursuit of attaining a self-reliant community. We are working on our long-term goal, which is to realize a self-reliant community. Some of our initiatives are:
- Funding women and youth groups projects
- Funding women and youth groups projects
- Community-based projects foreseen by the locals
Improving Community Health
The state of the healthcare industry in Africa is depressing. The escalated poverty levels have dragged healthcare into crisis. Challenges like shortages of physicians, few hospitals, inadequate healthcare facilities, and limited access to medicines just to mention a few. Fact Check:
- Build hospitals
- Provide medical supplies
- Provide clean water to the communities
- Get volunteer nurses and doctors
- Have HIV/AIDS awareness and counseling centers.

Our Poverty Eradication Efforts
Poverty is the leading cause of poor education and health. In Africa, the poverty levels are alarming, and with the growing population, the crisis may worsen. Let’s have some fact checks;
- The number of poor people in Africa has increased from 278 million in 1990 to 413 million in 2015 (World Bank). The increase in poverty levels was attributed to the rise in population.
- The World Bank projected an increase in poverty levels to 90% by 2030 if no measures will be put in place.
- According to the UN report, more than 40% of the sub-Saharan Africans survive with below $1.90 a day.
Poverty eradication in Africa is one of our primary goals. We have initiated several economic empowerment programs in pursuit of curbing poverty. Through the continuous support of Canadians and the global support we are receiving from well-wishers, we will establish:
- Food banks - For hunger management
- Provision of portable water
- Build low-cost houses for the poor
- Capacity building programs
- Financial support to small businesses

Our Role in Promoting Education
At Mercy Foundation, we believe that education is power. We advocate for education for all. We push for gender equality when it comes to educational opportunities. Education brings civilization; it opens doors to greater opportunities and is also one way of eradicating poverty. In Africa, education is not accessible to all. Due to the poverty levels, most children fail to join schools or drop out of school due to lack of school fees and basic necessities. Fact Check:
- In 2014, about 50 million girls in Sub-Saharan Africa were out of school, both primary and secondary, UNESCO.
- According to Global Education Digest, Africa has the highest rate of school drop-outs, with 42% of children dropping out of primary school.
Therefore, the Mercy Foundation is on the frontline advocating for education for all. Through your continued support we will;
- Build schools - kindergarten, colleges, universities, and research institutes
- Purchase books and other essential stationeries
- Sponsor poor children
- Provision of WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) facilities in schools.

Our Role in Religion Advancement
Mercy Foundation was founded on strong Christian values. We are a Christian foundation, and our charities are grounded on Christian values and virtues. Therefore, we extend our mandate to also help in;
- Building places of worship
- Organizing bible studies
- Missionary organizations
